Sick Leave Pay | Meaning and Definition

What is Sick Leave Pay?

Sick Leave Pay is a provision through which an employee is allowed to take time off from work for a brief or long-term health need and is to be paid for the days of the sick leave as well. As per the state and company laws, employees might also use the leave period to care for their family members as well apart from themselves.

Paid vs. Unpaid Sick Leave

Paid Sick Leave is a term that defines the provision of compensation during the leave of an employee, whereas unpaid sick leave does not provide compensation.

Guidelines on Unpaid Sick Leave are provided by The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Employers covered by FMLA offer paid sick leave to their employers only if they use their vacation pay hours for their leave period. Guidelines on FMLA are provided by the US Department of Labor through which a worker benefits and the job remains protected.

“I was able to implement the platform on my own. It helps in assigning the tasks to other employees, conducting surveys & polls & much more. The ease of use & self-onboarding is something that I would like to appreciate.”
