Zoom Fatigue | Meaning and Definition

What is zoom fatigue or fatigue meaning?

Zoom fatigue is a condition that can be caused by spending too much time looking at screens that emit electronic blue light. Symptoms include tired eyes, dry eyes, blurred vision, and headaches. It’s a type of mental fatigue that can lead to focus, concentration, and motivation problems.

There are a few different factors that can contribute to zoom fatigue:

  1. Excessive use of technology can lead to what’s known as information overload. This is when we’re bombarded with too much information, which becomes overwhelming.
  2. Staring at a screen for long periods can cause eye strain and headaches.
  3. The constant activity on Zoom calls can be mentally and emotionally draining.

How do you combat zoom fatigue?

There are a few things you can do to help combat “zoom fatigue”:

  •   Practice a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise. This will help keep your blood sugar levels stable and reduce the amount of stress your body experiences.
  •   Make sure to take breaks often and get up and move around. Even just a few minutes of walking around can help refresh your eyesight and relieve some fatigue.
  •   Remember to blink frequently, especially when zoomed in on something for an extended period. This will help keep your eyes lubricated and prevent them from becoming dry and irritated.
  •   Connect with people offline when you can. If you’re feeling Zoomed out, take a break from screens altogether and socialize in person. This may mean scheduling more frequent check-ins with friends or taking yourself on solo dates for introverts.
  •   Set boundaries with technology. If possible, designate specific times for working on projects that require Zoom or other virtual platforms.

“I was able to implement the platform on my own. It helps in assigning the tasks to other employees, conducting surveys & polls & much more. The ease of use & self-onboarding is something that I would like to appreciate.”
