UP to create 20 lakh additional jobs under the center’s scheme

The UP government has planned to chart out 20 lakh additional jobs under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) in the New Year to become the largest provider of jobs under the Centre’s flagship scheme in the country. The scheme had turned out to be the mainstay in provisioning jobs to a large number of migrants who came back to the state after being hit by the corona induced lockdown earlier this year.

EY to hire 9,000 technology professionals in India in 2021

Global professional services organization EY on Thursday announced that it would be inducted in 2021 about 9,000 new hires in India. These will be in various technology roles across all member firms including the global delivery centers, to expand its digital capabilities and help organizations solve their “complex end-to-end business transformation challenges”, it said in a statement. These hires will be from the STEM background and in areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber-security, analytics, and other emerging technologies.

Telangana, SAP India collaborate to drive digitization for MSMEs

The Government of Telangana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SAP India to digitize and empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. The program will work towards promoting entrepreneurship for the MSME sector, by providing them with access to the global marketplace, digital skilling for the workforce, and access to affordable enterprise technology.

L&T plans to hire 1,100 engineer trainees in 2021

Engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) are looking to recruit close to 1,100 graduate and post-graduate engineer trainees in 2021 and deploy them across various business verticals, a top company official has said. The company, through its ongoing virtual hiring process, has already made around 250 offers in the recent hiring season at premium education institutes like IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT BHU, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIT Hyderabad, and other IITs.

Haryana okays enterprise policy intending to create 5 lakh jobs

The Haryana Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, approved the Haryana Enterprises and Employment Policy 2020 intending to establish the state as a competitive and favored investment destination, achieve regional development and provide livelihood opportunities to its people through resilient economic development. The objective of the policy is to attract investment over Rs 1 lakh crore and generate 5 lakh jobs in the state. The Haryana Enterprises and Employment Policy 2020 will focus on building a resilient economy on the back of robust industrial growth.

Tatas to upgrade 225 Gujarat Industrial Training Institutes

Almost a decade after setting up its Nano project in Gujarat, Tata Group has proposed a fresh big-ticket investment in the state — of over Rs 7,000 crore to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The move is expected to bridge the demand-supply gap in terms of trained blue-collar workers in diverse and emerging industries of Gujarat. Tata Group has proposed the PPP (public-private partnership) model to upgrade the 225 ITIs in the state. The group has already tied up with the Gujarat government for setting up and operating the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS). The project to upgrade ITIs is being seen as a natural progression of the IIS proposal.
